A 24-year-old tire shop employee was killed Tuesday morning after a customer's vehicle fell off a lift at Atlantic Tire at 705 Southeast Monterey Road in Stuart. Stuart police responded to the workplace accident where the technician was fatally injured when the vehicle came off the lift.
Martin County Fire Rescue's extrication team arrived just after 6:30 a.m. and found the technician pinned between the vehicle and the wall inside the mechanic bay. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Stuart police say OSHA is involved in the investigation. The incident is being investigated as a workplace accident.
The identity of the technician has not been released. Atlantic Tire is located on Southeast Monterey Road in Stuart.
