Wellington High School's football program is working hard during summer training sessions to break a playoff drought that has lasted since 2022. The Wolverines are determined to return to postseason play this fall, and both players and coaches are committed to making it happen. The team's hunger for success is evident as they prepare for the upcoming season with focused training and team building.

The motivation among the players is strong. Senior Brady Seider expressed how meaningful a playoff appearance would be to the program. "It would mean everything you know. Everybody just looks at Wellington like we are a bunch of nobodies. We really wanna prove everybody wrong. We just wanna get there, see what it's like to win," Seider said. The team is tired of being overlooked and wants to show what they can accomplish on the field. This desire to prove doubters wrong is driving the Wolverines as they prepare for the season ahead.

Second-year head coach Pete Walker brings significant experience and success to the Wellington program. Walker previously captured three state titles while coaching at Glades Day, demonstrating his ability to build winning teams. He is confident in the current group's potential. "Well, first I had great coaches, which I have again on my staff. I think we're as good as anybody in Florida right now. The kids bought in through hard work and team and those types of things. So that's the things that we're concentrating on again, and they're moving in the right direction," Walker said. His leadership and the quality of his coaching staff are major assets for the program.

Junior Danhoi Williams emphasized that the summer work is about establishing a strong foundation for success. "Just trying to get a winning season and try to go to the playoffs. You know, get them gelling, new teammates, new coaches. Just trying to see that everything is going right in the summer and head into the season with it," Williams said. The team is focused on building chemistry, integrating new players and coaches, and ensuring everything is in place before the fall season begins. As summer workouts continue, the Wolverines are preparing themselves to compete and achieve their goal of returning to the playoffs.
