A 78-year-old Port St. Lucie resident has been arrested following a road rage incident in which he allegedly pointed a loaded handgun at a pregnant woman. Robert Kniceley was operating a yellow Chevrolet pickup truck on St. Lucie West Boulevard on Tuesday afternoon when he began honking and driving aggressively in the vicinity of the victim's vehicle, according to police records. The confrontation escalated when Kniceley pulled alongside her car at the intersection of SW Peacock Boulevard and SW St. Lucie West Boulevard.
When the victim rolled down her window, Kniceley allegedly brandished a handgun in her direction. The woman, who is in the late stages of pregnancy, reported being frightened for her safety. She managed to capture video footage of Kniceley as he left the scene, providing law enforcement with crucial evidence to identify him and track his movements.
Officers used the license plate information from the video evidence to locate Kniceley's residence. During a search of his home, police discovered a loaded Smith and Wesson .22 caliber handgun with a round already in the chamber. This discovery corroborated the victim's account of the incident and provided physical evidence of the weapon involved in the confrontation.
Kniceley was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a serious felony offense. He was taken into custody and transported to the St. Lucie County Jail to be processed. As part of the ongoing investigation, authorities initiated a risk protection order seizure process, a legal procedure designed to temporarily remove firearms from individuals deemed to pose a threat.
