Multiple Martin County Fire Rescue units battled a roof fire at the Dillard's department store in Jensen Beach Wednesday night. The call came in just before 9 p.m. at Treasure Coast Square Mall.
The Martin County Sheriff's Office said the fire appears to have started on the west side of the mall near Dillard's. Investigators believe the fire was caused by possible electrical issues or lightning.
Firefighters worked to extinguish the flames on the roof of the department store. Residents were asked to avoid the area while crews responded to the scene.
The incident remained under investigation as of late Wednesday evening. Martin County Fire Rescue had multiple units on scene working to control the blaze.
