The George Snow Scholarship Fund has reached a significant milestone, distributing more than $7.5 million in scholarships and support services to 470 students across Palm Beach and Broward counties in 2026. The Boca Raton-based nonprofit, which was founded over 40 years ago, continues to expand its reach and impact in the region. President Tim Snow announced the record-breaking achievement to WPTV, highlighting the organization's commitment to making higher education more accessible for deserving students.

Since its founding, the organization has awarded more than $45 million to over 4,100 students, establishing itself as the largest scholarship provider in Palm Beach County. Snow explained that the fund's core mission is to address the financial gap between traditional financial aid packages and what students and families can realistically afford. The organization accomplishes this through four-year scholarship commitments that provide stability and predictability as students work toward their degrees.

The fund's support extends well beyond monetary awards. Vice President of Development Jay Brandt noted that mentorship, professional development, and educational resources form essential parts of the program. The organization produces the College Compass podcast to help guide students through their academic journeys. Scholar Services Coordinator Garvey Antoine manages the Doyle-Whelchel Scholars Boutique, a unique initiative that provides professional, formal, and casual clothing to help scholars feel confident during interviews, internships, and campus activities. The boutique accepts donations of new or gently used clothing, footwear, and accessories from the community.

Among this year's recipients is Zya Chow, a Wellington Community High School graduate who earned both the Royal Palm Hearing Aid Scholarship and the Davidowitz Family Caregiving Youth Scholarship. Chow plans to attend Georgetown University and expressed her gratitude for the support. Her story exemplifies the fund's dedication to recognizing and supporting students who have demonstrated exceptional character and commitment despite facing various challenges. As education costs continue to rise across the country, comprehensive support systems like those offered by the George Snow Scholarship Fund have become increasingly important for helping underserved communities in South Florida access quality higher education opportunities.
