The Boca Raton Community High School band has earned a coveted spot in Washington, D.C.'s National Independence Day Parade, representing the entire state of Florida. On July 4 at 10:30 a.m., the students will march a full mile along the National Mall, from Constitution Avenue to Independence Avenue. Only bands nominated by state officials receive invitations to this prestigious event.

Junior Lola Cabezas acknowledged the pressure of performing before millions of viewers but expressed confidence the band will rise to the occasion. Senior Stephin Restivo said the team is laser-focused on nailing every detail, emphasizing that marching, timing, and consistent sound execution are critical since everyone will be watching. Band Director Jenn Girdlestone said she has full confidence in her students to put their best foot forward and represent the country well. Senior Lily Schaffer called the opportunity amazing, saying it showcases how much the program has grown. The parade will be streamed live on YouTube for those watching from home.
