Marion County staged four synchronized fireworks displays on July 4 to commemorate America's 250th anniversary under the Marion Celebrates 250 banner. Each location began at 5 p.m. with live entertainment, food vendors, and family activities before fireworks at 9 p.m. The sites included Veterans Memorial Park in Ocala, Wrigley Fields in Citra, Dunnellon High School in Dunnellon, and the Belleview Sportsplex in Belleview. The celebration marked the semiquincentennial, the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, as part of America250, the nonpartisan initiative of the U.S. Semiquincentennial Commission.
The city of Ocala hosted Fourth in the Park at Tuscawilla Park starting at 10 a.m., featuring live music, food trucks, a kids zone, and games. Country singer-songwriter Emma Forgette performed from 10 to 11:30 a.m., followed by Nashville recording artist Cliff Dorsey from noon to 2 p.m. The city also opened its aquatic fun centers, splash pads, and the Discovery Center for free. The Patriot Parade kicked off at Southeast 16th Avenue, proceeded to Silver Springs Boulevard, and turned to finish near Southeast 25th Avenue, featuring veteran groups, local businesses, and community organizations. Marion County promoted its Explore Your Freedom Here theme throughout the summer, highlighting crystal-clear springs, hiking trails, the World Equestrian Center, and locally owned restaurants and breweries.
