RentCafe has recognized Port St. Lucie's 34987 zip code as one of the fastest-growing in the country, largely due to the rapid development of Southern Grove, a neighborhood that has transformed dramatically over the past decade. The area's housing inventory has surged by 177 percent, representing one of the most significant growth spurts across Florida. This expansion reflects both deliberate planning and strong market demand that has positioned Southern Grove as an increasingly attractive place to live and work.

The neighborhood's appeal extends beyond housing numbers. Southern Grove has emerged as a significant employment center, drawing major corporations to the area. FedEx and Amazon have established major operations here, with Amazon demonstrating particular commitment by planning to close its existing facility and construct a larger replacement facility later this year. The neighborhood has also gained recognition for maintaining educated residents and strong homeownership rates, factors that contribute to its overall quality of life.

The growth of Southern Grove was not random. The neighborhood was intentionally developed as one of four distinct communities designed to attract residents and encourage them to establish long-term roots in the area. This strategic planning approach has clearly paid dividends, as the community continues to expand and develop. Alexandra Both, a writer for RentCafe, notes that Florida's success in attracting growth stems from multiple factors. "Florida's high number of up-and-coming communities, second only to Texas, reflects the state's favorable tax environment and relatively lower housing costs compared to major markets like New York and California," Both explained. She added that "sustained infrastructure investment has also fueled construction activity in many of these growing suburbs."

Port St. Lucie is not the only Florida community experiencing significant growth and recognition. Ponte Vedra Beach topped RentCafe's list of America's 50 newest neighborhoods, earning praise for creating an environment that appeals to families, retirees, and young professionals. Daytona Beach and the St. Augustine area have also achieved recognition in the top 50, noted for their excellent schools and robust housing demand. These communities demonstrate that Florida's growth extends well beyond individual zip codes, reflecting broader trends that are reshaping the state's landscape and attracting residents from across the country.
