The St. Lucie County Clerk and Comptroller's website was down for hours Tuesday morning, redirecting visitors to another site before coming back online by about 1:30 p.m. Clerk and Comptroller Michelle Miller posted a video on social media Tuesday afternoon addressing the outage, saying the website faced a temporary redirection issue caused by a third-party service provider. Miller assured the public that no personal or confidential information was compromised or at risk because the clerk's office does not store sensitive personal information on the public-facing website.
Jose Clavijo, the agency's IT director, said they received a report just before 8 a.m. that something was wrong with the county clerk's homepage. Clavijo said he immediately had the site turned off and started an investigation. Residents could still access information and services on the website through direct links instead of using the homepage. Clavijo said the payments page, property fraud information, and all other services remained available, with only the main page affected. The clerk's office communications team said this was not a hack because no personal information was compromised. Clavijo said the office is working to prevent similar issues and that there will be a tremendous remediation once they identify the exact issue.
