The Okeeheelee Comanches 10U All-Stars have made history with a scoreless run that has never been achieved before in Okeeheelee Park. The team scored 49 runs while allowing zero runs during district play in May. The Comanches then traveled to Auburndale in June to compete against the top 17 teams in the state, going undefeated and scoring 39 runs while shutting out every opponent. This marks the first time in Okeeheelee history that a team has given up zero runs during this span of competition.

The historic achievement came after the team lost tournaments earlier in the summer that they felt they should have won. Head coach Jose Espinosa acknowledged there were close championship and semifinal games where the team felt they were better and should have won but did not. While Espinosa admits he would like to win every game, he focuses on teaching his players something more important. "I don't really coach baseball; I coach life through baseball. For us, it's teaching all those things, accountability and how to work together. For us, it's about making sure that when they do make mistakes, they do know how to respond to that," said Jose Espinosa.

The team arrived in North Carolina this week to represent Florida in the Cal Ripken Southeast Regional Tournament. Player Tate Krass expressed excitement about the historic nature of their scoreless run and the opportunity ahead. "It's super cool because we've let up zero runs this season. It's like the first time it's happened in Okeeheelee history," said Krass. He also noted the unique setting for the tournament, saying, "It's going to be so cool up there; we're playing on the mountain range. There's nothing better you could ask for."

If the Okeeheelee All-Stars succeed in North Carolina, they will advance to the Cal Ripken World Series. Player Jonah Espinosa described the season as one with ups and downs and acknowledged the significance of the opportunity. "It's exciting, you know, it's a very hard thing to do. It takes a lot of hard work that nobody sees behind the scenes," said Jonah Espinosa. Okeeheelee Park has long been home to some of the best baseball teams in Palm Beach County.
