Motorists should prepare for overnight interstate ramp closures, extended neighborhood road closures and lane restrictions across Martin, St. Lucie and Indian River counties.
Drivers across the Treasure Coast could encounter delays during the week of July 10-17 as construction and maintenance continue on several major roadways.
The Florida Department of Transportation's latest weekly traffic report identifies multiple lane restrictions across Martin, St. Lucie and Indian River counties. FDOT placed additional emphasis on full road, ramp and bridge closures expected to have the greatest effect on motorists.
Major closures to know about
I-95 exit to Bridge Road closing overnight in Martin County
The southbound Interstate 95 exit ramp to County Road 708, also known as Bridge Road, at Exit 96 will be closed from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday, July 12, through Thursday, July 16.
Drivers will be directed to exit at Kanner Highway, travel south on Pratt Whitney Road and then head east on Bridge Road.
The closure is needed for roadway construction. Weather-related contingency dates are scheduled for July 19-23.
Port St. Lucie neighborhood roads could close for several days
Extended closures are planned along several side streets near the SW Port St. Lucie Boulevard widening project.
Closures may begin at 7 a.m. Monday, July 13, and continue until 5 p.m. Friday, July 17, on portions of SW Jaslo Avenue, SW Jacoby Avenue, SW McCullough Avenue, SW McCall Road and SW McHord Avenue.
The roads will close intermittently for drainage and utility installation. FDOT said adjacent roads will not be closed at the same time, and access to homes and businesses will be maintained.
Detours will generally use SW Paar Drive, SW McCain Street, SW McIntyre Street, SW Kabane Street and other nearby roads, depending on the closure location.
I-95 ramp to Orange Avenue closing in Fort Pierce
The northbound I-95 exit ramp to westbound State Road 68, or Orange Avenue, will be closed from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday, July 12, through Thursday, July 16.
Motorists will be detoured using the exit to eastbound Orange Avenue, northbound Jenkins Road and westbound Loop Road before returning to westbound Orange Avenue.
The work includes paving and lighting installation. Contingency dates are July 19-23.
Martin County traffic impacts
Motorists should expect overnight lane closures on I-95 between Bridge Road and the Martin-St. Lucie county line. Up to two lanes may close in each direction during overnight hours for milling, resurfacing and signage work.
On U.S. 1 in Stuart, two lanes may close intermittently between Fischer Street and Decker Avenue from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday through Friday for sign installation.
A1A between Shore Village Terrace and the Jensen Beach Causeway may be reduced to one lane at times from Monday through Friday for drainage work and pavement widening. Flaggers will maintain two-way traffic through the work zone.
Martin Highway between Stuart West Boulevard and Citrus Boulevard may also have intermittent overnight lane closures Tuesday through Thursday.
FDOT is additionally warning drivers in advance about several upcoming I-95 ramp closures at Martin Highway and Kanner Highway later in July and early August.
St. Lucie County traffic impacts
Port St. Lucie Boulevard between Seafury Lane and Lennard Road may have daytime lane closures Monday through Friday. Two lanes may close overnight from Sunday through Friday for drainage work, milling and repaving.
U.S. 1 between Jennings Road and Golden Oak Trail may also have lane restrictions during both daytime and overnight hours.
On SW Port St. Lucie Boulevard, one lane may close between Jordin Avenue and Alcantarra Boulevard from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday as crews continue the widening project.
Up to two lanes may close overnight on I-95 between Glades Cut-Off Road and the area just south of Okeechobee Road for milling and repaving.
Midway Road between Florida's Turnpike and Selvitz Road may continue to have intermittent weekday lane closures through September as part of the roadway widening project.
North Causeway marine restrictions
The new A1A North Causeway Bridge remains open to vehicle traffic, but significant restrictions are planned for boaters using the Intracoastal Waterway.
The existing drawbridge will not open to marine traffic from 7 a.m. Thursday, July 16, through 6 p.m. Saturday, July 18. Boats capable of passing beneath the bridge without an opening may continue through.
Additional single-leaf openings, partial channel obstructions and temporary full channel closures are scheduled through July 24 as crews remove portions of the former drawbridge.
FDOT said the marine work will not affect vehicle traffic on the new bridge.
Indian River County traffic impacts
One lane may remain closed on the 17th Street bridges between Indian River Boulevard and Indian Bay Drive as bridge rehabilitation continues.
At the new I-95 interchange at Oslo Road, one or two interstate lanes may close overnight Sunday through Thursday for bridge work, milling and resurfacing.
On 90th Avenue between Sebastian Boulevard and 87th Street, one lane may close overnight Sunday through Friday for construction associated with the 85th Street widening project.
Drivers traveling near Sebastian Inlet should also expect intermittent lane or shoulder closures on A1A through Friday, July 17. Flaggers will direct motorists through the work zone.
Sections of the north and south parking lots at Sebastian Inlet State Park will remain closed during construction of the new bridge. The closures are expected to continue through spring 2032, although the park and portions of both parking lots remain open.
Plan ahead
Construction schedules may change because of weather or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists should allow additional travel time, follow posted detours and use caution around workers and equipment.
