Port St. Lucie Animal Control will host a Low-Cost Rabies & Microchip Drive-Thru Clinic next month, giving local pet owners an affordable opportunity to vaccinate and microchip their dogs and cats.
The clinic will take place from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 22, in the Animal Control parking lot at 1133 SW South Macedo Blvd. The drive-thru format allows residents to remain in their vehicles throughout the process. Vehicles should enter from SW Lakehurst Drive via Bayshore Boulevard.
The event is open only to Port St. Lucie residents, who must provide proof of residency, such as a driver's license or utility bill.
For $20 per pet, participants will receive:
- A one-year rabies vaccination - A microchip - A City of Port St. Lucie pet license
Dogs and cats must be at least 4 months old to participate. Dogs must arrive on a leash, while cats must be transported in secure carriers. Animal Control officials noted that all dogs will be muzzled during their appointment to ensure staff safety.
The clinic is limited to 200 pets, and walk-up appointments will not be accepted. Pet owners are required to register in advance.
