The Sebastian Police Department joined Indian River County Fire Rescue in mourning the loss of Firefighter Geoffrey Lang, who died while off duty Saturday night. The department said Lang's bravery and service will always be remembered and extended deepest condolences to his family, friends and fellow firefighters.
The Vero Beach Police Department said it stands alongside Indian River County Fire Rescue during this difficult time and honors Lang's service and the impact he made on the community. The Indian River County Sheriff's Office also expressed condolences to Lang's family, friends and colleagues. Anna Kirkland, Indian River Mosquito Control District Seat 2, said she is praying for Lang's family, friends and the entire Indian River County Fire Rescue family.
Indian River County Fire Rescue Chief David Johnson announced Lang's passing Saturday night and said the department regretfully announced the off-duty death. Johnson said additional information will be released in the coming days and asked people to keep Lang's family, fellow firefighters, friends and all who knew and loved him in their thoughts.
