Four members of the New York Mets’ 2026 draft class made immediate impacts Tuesday night as the St. Lucie Mets overwhelmed the Dunedin Blue Jays 14-6 at TD Ballpark.

Aiden Robbins, Ryan Tayman, John Smith III and Kooper Schulte combined to go 9-for-17 with three home runs, two doubles, seven RBIs and seven runs scored in their professional debuts. The St. Lucie lineup also featured Yovanny Rodriguez and Wyatt Vincent, who made their team debuts after being promoted from the Florida Complex League.

The revamped offense provided more than enough support for New York Mets pitcher Clay Holmes, who moved his rehabilitation assignment from Triple-A Syracuse to the Florida State League because of predicted bad weather in New York.

Holmes, recovering from a right fibula injury, scattered two singles and two walks over four scoreless innings. He struck out three and threw 59 pitches.

Tayman gave St. Lucie a 2-0 lead in the second inning by hitting a two-run home run on the first swing of his professional career. The ninth-round selection out of Cal Poly finished 4-for-5 with a homer, a double, two singles, three runs scored and two RBIs.

Robbins, a third-round pick from Texas, drove an RBI double off the center-field wall in the third inning for his first professional hit.

The Mets added three runs in the fourth. Cole Mathis delivered a sacrifice fly before Marco Vargas lined a two-run double off the left-field wall against Dunedin starter Blake Purnell, extending the lead to 6-0.

Smith, a 19th-round pick from UCF, hit a two-run homer off Purnell in the fifth inning for his first professional hit. He homered again in the ninth and finished 2-for-5 with three RBIs.

Austin Warren, beginning a rehabilitation assignment for a right forearm strain, pitched a scoreless fifth inning with one strikeout and induced a double play. He was credited with the win.

Dunedin scored four runs against Tyler McLoughlin in the sixth, but Ernesto Mercedes stopped the rally with consecutive strikeouts. Mercedes then retired the Blue Jays in order in the seventh and added two more strikeouts.

Elian Peña hit a two-run homer in the eighth, and Robbins added an RBI single to push St. Lucie’s lead to 11-4.

The Mets scored three more runs in the ninth on Smith’s second homer, a bases-loaded walk by Julio Zayas and an RBI single from Vargas. Vargas finished 3-for-5 with three RBIs.

Schulte, a 20th-round pick from Iowa, went 1-for-3 with a single, a walk, a hit-by-pitch and two runs scored. Rodriguez went 1-for-4 with a walk and two runs in his St. Lucie debut, while Vincent went 1-for-4 with a double, a walk and a run.

The Mets improved to 12-18 in the second half and 45-51 overall. Dunedin fell to 14-16 in the second half and 44-51 overall.

The teams continue the series Wednesday at TD Ballpark. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
