Indian River County Fire Rescue participated in a career fair at Dodgertown Elementary at 4350 43rd Street in Vero Beach on Tuesday, July 28. Firefighters spent time with students at the school, discussing what it is like to serve the community and introducing them to the various career opportunities available in the fire service.
The event gave students a chance to ask questions and see the equipment firefighters use in their daily work. Indian River County Fire Rescue posted about the visit on Facebook, describing it as a day filled with learning and inspiration. "From answering great questions to showing off our equipment, it was a fantastic day of learning and inspiration," the department said in the statement.
Fire Rescue officials said they hope the career fair will help inspire the next generation of firefighters, paramedics and public servants. The department emphasized the rewarding nature of careers in fire service during their time with the students. The firefighters shared information about serving the community and the different roles available within the department.
The career fair represented an opportunity for young students to learn about public service careers firsthand from the firefighters who perform those jobs every day.
