A Stuart man is facing multiple charges after police said he led officers on a chase through Stuart and Martin County Tuesday night. An officer with the Stuart Police Department attempted to stop a vehicle on July 28 for an equipment violation after learning the registered owner's driver's license had been revoked.
The driver did not stop and instead sped away, leading officers on a brief pursuit through the city. During the chase, the suspect crashed into another vehicle and continued driving out of Stuart. The driver continued driving recklessly into Martin County, where deputies with the Martin County Sheriff's Office and troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol joined the pursuit.
The vehicle was eventually stopped, and the driver surrendered without further incident. The driver was identified as 31-year-old David Kingsley Jr. He was arrested and charged by Stuart Police with fleeing and eluding law enforcement and leaving the scene of a crash involving property damage. Additional charges were filed by the Florida Highway Patrol and the Martin County Sheriff's Office.
