The St. Lucie Mets hit three home runs and briefly rallied into the lead Wednesday night, but the Dunedin Blue Jays scored six unanswered runs over the final three innings to win 14-9 at TD Ballpark.

The loss evened the series at one game apiece. St. Lucie has scored 51 runs over its last five games but has allowed 52, going 2-3 during that stretch.

Yovanny Rodriguez gave the Mets a 3-0 lead in the first inning with a three-run homer, his first since joining St. Lucie from the Florida Complex League.

Dunedin answered quickly. JoJo Parker hit a two-run homer off Owen Woodward in the bottom of the first, then connected for another two-run shot against Jose Lopez in the second. Parker, the Blue Jays’ top prospect, finished 3-for-4 with two home runs, a single, a walk, four RBIs and four runs scored.

St. Lucie trailed 8-6 entering the fifth before Simon Juan and Bohan Adderley hit back-to-back home runs with two outs. Juan’s two-run shot tied the game, and Adderley followed with his first St. Lucie homer to put the Mets ahead 9-8.

The lead held until the seventh, when Dunedin scored four runs against reliever Zack Mack. Parker opened the rally with a hard infield single that first baseman Branny De Oleo stopped, but De Oleo’s throw toward second base escaped into the outfield and allowed Jake Cook to score the tying run.

Juan Sanchez then chopped a two-run single to give the Blue Jays an 11-9 lead and later scored on a wild pitch. Dunedin added two more runs in the eighth on RBI singles by Brayden Martin and Blaine Bullard.

After Adderley’s go-ahead homer, Dunedin relievers Noah Palmese, Ricky Tiedemann, Isaac Williams and Dax Dathe combined to retire 10 consecutive Mets batters.

Elian Peña ended that streak with a leadoff single in the ninth and reached third on an error with no outs. The Mets had a chance to score in double figures for a fourth consecutive game, but Bradley Wilson struck out three straight batters to strand Peña at third.

Peña went 2-for-4 with two singles and two RBIs, while Adderley finished 2-for-4. Eight of St. Lucie’s nine starters recorded at least one hit.

Dylan Carey, an undrafted free agent from Nebraska, made his professional debut and went 1-for-3 with a single, a hit-by-pitch and a run scored. He also played error-free defense at shortstop.

Elwis Mijares provided the strongest outing from the Mets bullpen, pitching 2⅓ scoreless innings with three strikeouts. Woodward, pitching on a minor league rehabilitation assignment, worked the first inning and ended his appearance with consecutive strikeouts.

Lopez followed Woodward and allowed six runs on four hits and six walks over 2⅔ innings. Mack took the loss after being charged with four runs in two-thirds of an inning.

Sanchez finished 2-for-4 with a double, two walks and four RBIs for Dunedin. Cook reached base in each of his final five plate appearances with three singles and two walks.

The Mets fell to 12-19 in the second half and 45-52 overall. The Blue Jays improved to 14-17 in the second half and 45-51 overall.

The teams play the third game of the series Thursday at TD Ballpark. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
