Leslie Howard, 70, and Rakeya Jackson, 28, were arrested before 5 a.m. on July 31 after Fort Pierce police officers were called to N. 10th Street regarding a suspicious vehicle parked in an empty field. When officers arrived, they observed drug paraphernalia in plain view.

Jackson refused several lawful commands to exit the vehicle and actively resisted the officers' attempts to detain her. Howard was taken into custody without incident. Both suspects were transported to the St. Lucie County Jail and charged with possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia. Jackson was also charged with resisting an officer without violence and tampering with physical evidence.
