The Costco at 3173 Kanner Highway in Stuart has reopened following an electrical fire that temporarily closed the store on Thursday. Store management told the Stuart Police Department that only dry goods are available for purchase because the refrigeration unit is not operational.

The Stuart Police Department said the electrical fire at the Kanner Highway location has been extinguished. Shoppers and travelers were asked to avoid the area while the store was closed.

The fire disrupted normal operations at the Martin County location. The store has since resumed limited service while the refrigeration system remains down.

Customers visiting the Stuart Costco can purchase dry goods but will not be able to buy refrigerated or frozen items until the refrigeration unit is repaired.
