Four supermarket chains in Florida are offering Thanksgiving turkey-and-side packages for under $40 as turkey prices rise. Turkey costs are up 8% from a year ago, according to the Consumer Price Index.
Target’s $30 Thanksgiving package serves six people, while Winn-Dixie’s deal serves six for under $40. For larger tables, Walmart offers a package serving 10 people for $35, and Aldi’s $39 package also serves 10. All four deals include turkey and side dishes.
Publix and Sam’s Club also have holiday meal options that include turkey and sides. Publix offers several heat-and-serve meals starting at $69.99. Sam’s Club’s package costs $160 and serves 16 people.
Eric Van Tassel with FAU’s College of Business said grocery prices are a leading concern for consumers. “Talking to American households, that's the first thing they bring up; naturally, it's something I pay attention to. I'm going to the grocery store after this meeting,” Van Tassel said.
