A late Saturday crash that closed all northbound lanes of Interstate 95 in Martin County killed three people, including a 5-year-old boy, the Florida Highway Patrol has confirmed. The new account says a car struck a parked tractor-trailer and an 11-year-old girl in the car suffered incapacitating injuries.

Investigators said a 2017 Toyota Camry was traveling in the outside northbound lane when it moved onto the right shoulder and struck the rear of a parked 2012 Kenworth tractor-trailer's 53-foot trailer. The impact caused the Camry to spin across all three northbound lanes before coming to rest on the left shoulder. The crash was reported around 11:05 p.m.

All three people killed were passengers in the Camry: a 34-year-old man, the 5-year-old boy and a woman. The car's driver, a 31-year-old Port St. Lucie woman, suffered non-incapacitating injuries. The 11-year-old girl was also a passenger in the car.

FHP said the driver was transported by ground, while the girl was flown by LifeStar. A 60-year-old Miami man was driving the tractor-trailer, which was parked on the right shoulder when the crash occurred.

The crash occurred in northern Martin County, just north of Martin Highway and approximately half a mile south of Becker Road. The closure diverted northbound traffic off the interstate at the Martin Highway exit. The Martin County Sheriff's Office, Martin County Fire Rescue and Florida Highway Patrol responded to the scene. The crash remains under investigation.
