A 41-year-old Palm City man died early Monday morning after his SUV crashed into the back of a semi-truck on Florida's Turnpike in Martin County. The collision occurred at Mile Marker 136 in the northbound outside lane.
Florida Highway Patrol reports the man was driving a Nissan Rogue SUV northbound when he approached a semi-truck with a trailer, also traveling in the outside lane. The Nissan collided with the back of the trailer.
The Palm City driver was transported to Florida Coast Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 1:55 a.m. The driver of the semi-truck was not injured in the collision.
Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. The incident marks one of multiple fatal traffic crashes in Martin County over recent days.
