Florida highway agency confirms data breach by international criminals using Plant City police login

The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles confirmed Friday that an international criminal organization breached state systems on Sept. 4 using a Plant City police employee's login credentials that were improperly stored on a personal device.

The department said the breach was quickly stopped and no further intrusion has occurred.

The FLHSMV is working with the Florida Digital Service and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement on the investigation. The department said it will release more information later as the criminal investigation continues.
