Tee McMillan, who lived near the Maxwell home on Silverstream Circle in Fort Pierce for more than a decade, said the death of the infant boy is heartbreaking and haunts her. McMillan said when that baby boy died it was just the worst of the worst. She said everyone in the neighborhood worried about how the child was treated but never knew it was that bad.

McMillan said the community never thought that a baby boy would die. She said all anyone wants is justice for the baby. Deputies, detectives and crime scene investigators responded to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center after the child was brought to the emergency room by the child's grandparents and medical personnel advised responding deputies that the child had been pronounced deceased and exhibited injuries and conditions consistent with possible neglect.
